Understanding Effects of PTSD
Explore the psychological and emotional effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). We'll look at how trauma impacts the brain and body, common symptoms, and the varied ways individuals experience and cope with post-traumatic stress.
In addition to learning about the clinical aspects of PTSD, this session will include a creative component. Art-making can be a powerful tool for processing emotions that are often difficult to express with words. Through a guided art directive, you’ll have the opportunity to reflect on what you’ve learned, explore personal or empathetic emotional responses, and begin translating those into visual expression.
This is a space for insight, empathy, and creative exploration. No art experience is needed—just a willingness to engage, reflect, and express.

Join and explore something that touches all of our lives—change, and our very human desire to control what happens to us. It’s natural to want certainty, to try and plan for every outcome, to hold on tightly when things feel uncertain. But as many of us have discovered, life often doesn’t follow the script we hoped it would.
This class is about learning how to meet those moments with something different: acceptance, not as resignation, but as a powerful act of courage. We’ll talk about how we can soften our grip, how we can soothe ourselves when anxiety arises, and how we can build a new relationship with change—one that honors both our vulnerability and our strength.
Using an art directive, together, we’ll learn to trust the process, reconnect with ourselves, and find peace not by controlling the waves, but by learning to ride them with compassion and clarity.
